To good to be true

A couple days ago, I was out with my brother. We were on a side road in Chattanooga, TN when these two guys pulled up next to us saying "Hey, would you guys like a great deal on some speakers?" I had already decided that something was up but I was intrigued by the two guys so I told my brother to pull off in a parking lot. They opened up the side of their Avalon Distributors van to display their boxed up speakers and sound systems. One set was supposedly valued at $2,000, but in his words, he "didn't want to be greedy" so he shoved one of the speakers in my hand and offered to sell it and the rest of the set for the incredible price of $600. I stated that I didn't have that kind of money and he then proceeded to graciously offer an even greater price reduction...what selflessness (can you hear the sarcasm :P). i proceeded to decline, and under protest from the guy, leave. I get back home and check online for the fun of it, and surprise, surprise, I am most certainly not the only one who has experienced such a thing.

How often have you heard "If it's too good to be true, it is"? That statement is almost always correct. These guys were trying their best to get whatever cash they could out of me by whatever dishonest means they could contrive. A $2000 speaker system for under $500...I don't think so. So what does this mean in our relationship with God? God offers us eternity for...get this...nothing. Nothing! No surcharges, no hidden fees. Is God offering a defective product? Not in the least! God is offering the greatest product of all, eternity with Him; eternity in complete freedom; no sorrow, no sin. So is what God offers to good to be true? That's for you to decide.
